ORANGE CAKE

who even thinks anymore....not me...not you....not anyone...we are the age of information....we can just look it ...because in the end......we carry cell phones.

comfort music.
music to listen to when you remember why you actually liked music.....what it meant....what it was and you you know it should be still....and you can only blame the age of information...

yes.....we are the photographic emo nation.......and information does travel faster int he modern age.....

but yet we have gotten musically slow.

i say tear down the idea of digital music.....i mean lets face it...all you people buying vinyl.... feeling like you are contributing to the return of the record rock n roll industry......remember....you buy it now because you have the download code for the  mp3s to put on your iPod..

im not gonna sit here and act like i am some sort if vinyl entitled activist for the elite taste in music.

but there is something to be said about what it means to hold something in your hand as opposed to just transferring it on to your iPod. im as guilty as the next

but it didn't used to be that way....

we used to have to get out of our basements...go to  a record store...mingle with the people.....judge....and walk away feeling challenged.......when i go to the record store now....i see a bunch of stuff i can download.

for you..the record store owner......or the record label owner.....you have been bruised

for the bands.....you have become accessible and thus uninteresting......therefore image sells more than ever.

technology....you take the cake.

shit man...as we get older...we become more like what we hate...but we just dont hate it so much now....conviction has been beaten by apathy and ale.....too much of both.

i know you all are out there too.

31 years of age.......a retrospective.

31 is such a lame number....i mean in the list of unexciting years....31 is ten years past 21......and from 21 to 31 is when one might perhaps age the most.....now.......at 31 we are officially going the other direction in the game of life.....well at least as far as the aging process goes.... the past year has had its ups and downs....like every other year i suppose....i am by no means excited about the year ahead....but i am by no means.... Dostoevsky so to speak either. i would like to think ive gotten maturer....and physically thats true....i finally hit puberty......it only took this long.....but i think the way we as a society measure maturation....some might say im an epic fail...others...on the other hand might see me as some sort of free kindred spirit....enjoying the canvas of life...i can tell you.....either way you look at me...its not intentional.

at 31 years old i think of the united states of america as no longer a easy place to live...bigger government involvement in our lives has made everything more complicated.....over priced....and uninteresting. we now are consumed by the world of reality....which turns out to be not so real......a certain form of escapism....if you will.....we will watch the kardashians......so we can forget about our shitty jobs...or at least feel good about ourselves that we aren't like them.....at least i do...maybe in a messed up sort of way....watching the overly rich and indulgent....spend money and act as vapid as possible....we find some sort of solace in knowing at least we have depth....and conviction.....maybe we just want their money.....perhaps its latter once we reflect upon our own lives and see that a gallon of gas is now more expensive than a gallon of milk....and some people actually wish it that way.....go figure. ill get off my usa soap box....im not gonna defy capitalism by any means....im just tired of prices going up...and its just as simple as this.... oil goes up...so does everything else.....

at 31 years old...i know what my parents meant when ten years ago they said " i dont get kids today"....more than ever do i really realize that....i feel like i woke up one day...and missed a whole generation....like pop culture just passed me by.....wow....the things people are into these days.... for example:

seriously what the eff is steampunk?...im about to tell you. according to wikipedia
Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fictionalternate history, and speculative fiction that came into prominence during the 1980s and early 1990s.[1] Specifically, steampunk involves an era or world where steam power is still widely used—usually the 19th century and often Victorian eraBritain—that incorporates prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy. Works of steampunk often feature anachronistic technology or futuristic innovations as Victorians may haveenvisioned them; in other words, based on a Victorian perspective on fashionculturearchitectural styleart, etc. This technology may include such fictional machines as those found in the works ofH. G. Wells and Jules Verne or real technologies like the computer but developed earlier in an alternate history.
Other examples of steampunk contain alternate history-style presentations of "the path not taken" for such technology as dirigiblesanalog computers, or such digital mechanical computers asCharles Babbage and Ada Lovelace's Analytical engine.
Steampunk is often associated with cyberpunk. They have considerable influence on each other and share a similar fan base, but steampunk developed as a separate movement. Apart from time period and level of technology, the main difference is that steampunk settings tend to be lessdystopian.
Various modern utilitarian objects have been modded by individual artisans into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style, and a number of visual and musical artists have been described as steampunk.

Crimpshrine - Safely Wasting Away

I am just a parasite - a rancid creature of
The night- with eyes that never see the light
Of day. Papers blow over empty streets-
People inside houses I'll never meet are
Feeling safe and safely wasting away.
They Are all inside asleep - living love that they
Can't keep - speaking words that they could
Never say. Dreams of learning how they might
Make amends and set things right- are
Conveniently forgotten the next day...
Safely wasting away.
